What do I have to do to apply and join NJHS at HAST?
Look through the following links to see how you are invited, how to apply, and what all the requirements are to join.
Step 1: The HAST Chapter Advisor will look through your academic records to see if you are on the A/B Honor Roll for quarter 1 - quarter 3 of the current school year.
Step 2: If you are on the A/B Honor Roll, you will be sent an invitation to apply. It is your choice to join or not. No pressure. If you decide that NJHS sounds like a great organization for you then you will complete the candidate form that is sent to you with the letter of invitation. The candidate form lists all of your accomplishments in clubs, sports, or non-school related groups. We want to know how awesome you are so don't be modest when completing the candidate form.
Step 3: Once your candidate form is completed, ask a teacher, coach, or other non-related adult to write a letter of recommendation telling us just how awesome you are and what a great person you are in and out of school.
Step 4: Submit your candidate form, letter of recommendation, Grade check form, and the $20 membership fee to Ms. Mace or the HAST office by the assigned date given to those who have been invited.
Step 5: The NJHS council of five middle school teachers will review all of the applications, candidate forms, and letters of recommendation. Acceptance letters will go out once all applications have been reviewed by the Faculty Council. Any students not accepted will have their membership fees refunded.
Step 6: All accepted members will be invited to an induction ceremony where you will officially become NJHS members. All staff, friends, and family are invited to see your accomplishments. You must attend the induction ceremony as your final step of application.
